Zeferino, Bravo Ink El Pasoan Joel Garcia

El Paso's newest sensation  Joel Garcia signed a long term promotional deal  with Zeferino Entertainment and Nino Bravo Productions last Wednesday at the Hampton Inn, putting pen to paper in hopes of one day making his boxing dreams come true.

The 20-year-old Aggressive style El Pasoan put together an outstanding 86-5 amateur record, "I'm very happy for this opportunity," Garcia said. "My goal, naturally, is to be a world champion someday. My immediate goal is to remain undefeated and to train hard so I can accomplish that goal."

Zeferino Ramirez commented, "We are very excited about Joel Garcia. He already fights like a seasoned professional, We want to keep him busy and start fighting top prospects in the division.”

Garcia, who right now fights at 112 pounds but will eventually move up, will be paired on fight cards with El Paso's undefeated heavyweight David Rodriguez, who has also signed under the Zeferino Banner with Ramirez.

"It will be a building process," Rodriguez said. "But not much because Joel had such a stellar amateur career. I'm excited because he will be fighting on the same cards I am. I'm excited because this will be my first time to help build a young fighter. Naturally, my main focus is still on fighting. But as long as we can build up another El Paso fighter, why not." Garcia has trained with Louis Aguilar at Pound 4 Pound Boxing Gym since he was 12 years old. He is a three-time National Champion and looks to begin his quest in May.
